Lighting the Way

Today is the feast day of St. Augustin, Doctor and Saint of my church. He offers hope to all who have led dissolute lives, that through the prayers of others and the intercession of the Holy Spirit, we can become children of God. Augustin was anything but saintly in his early life, but one day heard the Gospel of the Lord and was changed. Becoming a priest at 30, he went on to offer an extrordinary testament to the power of the Word. Also of note, his mother never stopped praying for him, asking God to help him find his way to Jesus Christ. Monica's prayers were answered, and her son went on to shine a light for all of us who come to the Lord later in our lives.
