What is Faith
Faith is the substance of things to be hoped for, the evidence of things that appear not." Thomas Aquinas
It seems to me that there is more to it than just this. But I also thought this was a nice starting point on faith. Things to be hoped for:
eternal life and salvation
the love of God the Father
peace
Those are things the human existence can ask for, hope for.
As for "evidence of things that appear not", this is the crux of the problem of faith for me. I want to believe, and I choose to believe. But is that the same as faith? Not knowing, I cannot say. But I keep seeking faith daily, praying for the entrance of the Holy Spirit into my soul.
