When one realizes that faith is the result of hearing the word of God, and that the word of God is His will revealed unto us, the Christian life becomes a little less complicated. Most Christians that I know struggle through life just like the unbelievers of this present age, encompassed about by anxiety, frustrations, fears, and lack of peace, and this is mostly due to the fact that we find it easier to live in ignorance than to believe the word that has been given to us. Paul told the Thessalonian Christians "
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe." It sounds simplistic to the average person these days, but the word of God works in the lives of those who will believe it.
So what is the reasoning behind so may Christian struggles? A major factor in most of our struggles is simply doubt, rather than faith. We truly don't believe a lot of the word, and then we are quite lazy when it comes to applying it to our lives. The word of God says "
Be anxious for nothing...", but we refuse to take heed to the command and we choose to worry instead. So how is the word supposed to work in our life if we refuse to hearken to what is clearly written to us? Well that part of the word isn't going to work if we don't obey. A Christian can't experience the "
peace that passeth all understanding," if they choose to worry about anything in this life, and worry is indeed a choice. I hate it, but I hear it all the time, "
Well I can't help it, I just worry about this...or that," and I say this is simply ludicrous. Individuals choose to worry, and some folks choose to obey and set their thoughts on higher things, and the promises of God.
