Deception in the End...
As I heard a minister speak tonight about deception being one of the main end-time signs, and how some who are so well known have departed from the faith by teaching false doctrines, my thoughts wondered about Carlton Pearson.
Mr. Pearson was a minister that I once enjoyed listening to somewhat, and this is something for me, since I don't enjoy very many ministers on television, but I marvel at how someone that seems so well founded can so easily depart from the truth. I am speaking of his embracing of the false doctrine of "inclusion," which is a doctrine that basically teaches that hell is a figurative expression, and every individual on the earth is already saved. In this doctrine, the idea is that the love of God has already extended forgiveness to every person, and this forgiveness is synonymous with salvation, even if the individual doesn't actually accept Christ, His person, or His doctrine, as it is revealed to us in the Scriptures.
I marvel, and of course I hear the words of Saint Paul saying "Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.," and it is very clear that these individuals are not the last to make shipwreck of their faith.
My prayers are of course extended to all those who call on the name of Christ, that they may prevail above such falsehoods, and be found without fault on that final day. The truth is, we must follow the Spirit of God fully, and look constantly to His Word to remain above such deception, and only then can we expect the grace of God to work this preservation in our lives.
