Conservative journal of Christian thoughts and reflections in the midst of a corrupt age.

I am first and foremost, a Christian, a husband, a minister of the Gospel of Christ, and it just so happens that I am also an Alaskan Registered Guide. I am by most standards a radical right wing conservative Republican, and in my opinion, it would be difficult to have any other view if one is actually Christian.

We are of God...

John, the beloved Apostle, wrote these words "We are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness." almost 2,000 years ago, and they still ring true in my hearing to this day. I have dealt with six companies this week on the net in attempting to order a pair of binoculars, and to my utter amazement, I find that people are willing to go to any lengths to scam an individual. I firmly believe that the majority of people are dishonest when it is convenient for them, or profitable, nonetheless it sometimes becomes abundantly clear when I least expect it. In searching for binoculars for my business I found 6 differentcompanies advertising fantastic prices on the particular brand I was looking for. The products normally retail for $1,000-$1,250, and I found them as low as $674 in a Brooklyn camera shop. I even ordered a pair, or tried to. I placed an order on the web one night, then called the next day to confirm the order, when the individual explained that this model wasn't in stock, but one for $719 was, so I told him I wanted it. After about 2 days I thought I better call and make sure they were going to be shipped promptly, seeing I have to be in Alaska on the 27th of this month. The guy said the item that was supposed to be in stock, was now out of stock, and could be two weeks before they got more in. When questioned as to whether they would be the same price when they arrived, I was told "I cannot foretell," and this was when I promptly cancelled my order. Unbelievably the next five shops that offered low prices were trying to pull the same exact scam. No one had the product they were advertising, and one company even masqueraded as two different companies, using two websites, with identical content, only different colors. The same guy answered the different phone numbers when I called.

I finally ordered a pair of Zeiss glasses from a Christian run sporting goods store in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and it was a pleasant experience. What's my point? I guess my point (if any) is that God requires something more of the Christian. We might not live up to it, but we will give an account for our actions, before Christ the King. He calls us to honesty, in every area of our lives, whether it is tax time, or business dealings, or simply dealing with our neighbors. The word declares that all liars will "...have their part in the lake of fire," and from this type of language I get the impression that God despises dishonesty.

I look around, and find so few individuals that are interested in living the life of a saint.
