Spring hunts almost gone....

For those of you that have missed our EBay specials I'm sorry, but the goat hunting appears to be about full, and 2 out 3 spring brown bear slots are booked, and it looks like the other slot will not last long. The Charleston, WV hunt show is just around the corner and hopefully I will have the new DVD finished before the end of the month, so stay tuned!

Goat Hunts Almost Gone...

We may be totally booked for goat before the end of the week, so if you had goat in mind for 2007 you may want to contact us now. Due to new guide requirements being proposed as I write, we need to get three successful goat hunts under our belts, and the key word is successful, so we intend to hunt hard. Not that we don't give 100% anyway, but we prefer not to have anyone on these goat hunts that may have the tendency to quit early, if you know what I mean.

Hunt Shows...

We will be at booth #93 at the Charleston, WV hunt show on January 27-29, and we will also be at the International Sportsmen's Exposition; Phoenix, March 9-11, 2007 at the Arizona Cardinals Stadium, Glendale, AZ - Space # 1315.

Sheep hunts for 2007 are almost gone, and the brown bear slots for both 2007 & '08 will not last long.

Brown Bear advantages...

It looks like we will be able to have another advantage on the Peninsula for 2007, and this will be the addition of a 22 ft. Hewescraft boat to the equipment list.

The boat will be a welcome addition for us for the pursuit of trophy brown bear on the Peninsula due to the fact that it will enable us to get around the bays and river systems with a greater degree of safety than before, and it solves some of our basis transport problems.

The season looks to be very promising with the aquisition of real estate and the boat, we expect to be able to offer something that a lot of other outfits down in this region cannot, and this is flexibility. Many outfits in the area are running unrealistic numbers of hunters (yeah believe it or not, but I know of one outfit that is pushing the 30-40 bear hunter per year mark)and we are looking for a more personalized approach to the entire hunt.

Getting another DVD ready for market has been time consuming recently, but we will have our second one available very soon. Of course it is just amateur stuff that we do ourselves, but it is the real deal. We will have footage from both the 2005 and 2006 season, including shot footage on brown bear, black bear and more, plus some great footage of the spring hunt on the Peninsula. We didn't get any shot footage there, but it is pretty neat. We will also have a combined DVD with all the edited footage from 2004 through 2006 available as well.

B&C Brown Bear

Cy Rossi may correct me after I post this, but if I have the info right, his spring brown bear (Alaska Peninsula) officially scored 28 13/16" B&C. For those of you interested in the October 2007 hunt in this same area, please don't wait, since the slots are very limited. We are also booking already for the spring 2008 hunts in this area at the same price of $14,000 (not including charter, tag, or license) for a very limited time, so look around at some of the competition's $17,000-$20,000 offers and then gives us some thought.

Highs & Lows and Back Home Until Spring...

Well it has been one of those years of extremes. A spring season with a tremendous B&C brown bear and more, the worst weather for early sheep hunts in years, and a tough draw on brown bear for our last two hunters in 16B this fall.

Overall it has been a good year, although some guys that worked hard did not get the results that they yearned for, others got results beyond their wildest expectations. It is hunting, not grocery shopping, and the animals are indeed wild.

We hope to get the photos of the year up and online within the next couple of weeks, and we remind everyone that we do have an article in the Summer-Fall issue of Big Game Adventures Magazine at this time. The article is by Blake Olson and is about the double on 39" rams during the 2004 sheep season.

Headed Out Again...

We haven't had a lot of time to post in this past week, but I did want to post at least one photo from sheep camp and say congratulations to Mark Boulanger, Chet Norris, and Dr. Bob McCulloch again on their hunts! We are going after bear on the coast this next week so we will report back probably around September 12-13th.

Sheep Around the Corner, or Cliff Face...

Looks like a busy opening week of sheep hunting is going to be upon us very shortly, and we are looking forward to some great rams this year. 2007 opening slots are looking quite full, so we may do a couple of late season hunts for those of you who just can't wait for a ram, but the October Peninsula brown bear hunts will be looming large, so scheduling for September is somewhat up in the air at the moment.

Peninsula Success!

Just a quick note to let everyone know we went 2 for 3 on the Peninsula this spring with Dr. Franklin Wong (guided by Derek Harbula) taking a bear around 8 ft. and Silvio (Cy) Rossi (guided by Jesse Ryder)taking a bear right at 10 ft. 10 inches with a skull that is green scored around 28 14/16 inches; truly an old monster bear.
